Cadillac LYRIQ vs. Audi Q4 e-tron

Just a few short years ago, if you were searching for the best luxury SUV around, you didn’t have a whole lot of choices. Now, we have the opposite problem—there are dozens of great EV SUVs on the market, with many of them falling firmly into the category of luxury.
So, now that there are so many options, how do car shoppers in Destin pick the right one for them?
In order to get to the bottom of things, we’ve decided to pit our personal favorite—the 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ—against another strong contender, the 2024 Audi Q4 e-tron. Let the battle of the green machines commence.
LYRIQ vs. Q4 e-tron: Range and Charging
One of the most important rubrics for whether an EV is worth the money is how far it can drive on a single charge. So, how do these two stack up?
The LYRIQ is available with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The estimated range of the LYRIQ AWD is about 307 miles, while the range for the RWD model is an astonishing 314 miles. These are some pretty impressive numbers, especially considering the fact that usually when an EV has two available powertrains, one of them comes with a significant loss in mileage.
At the beginning of 2024, the Q4 e-tron had three different available powertrains, but a mid-year refresh slimmed the selection down to two. The rear-wheel drive Q4 40 e-tron gets an estimated 265 miles of range, while the quattro all-wheel drive Q4 55 e-tron is only rated for 258 miles.
No matter how you look at it, the LYRIQ has a big-time range advantage. What about charging speeds, though?
The LYRIQ is capable of charging speeds up to 190 kilowatts, which allows it to regain up to 77 miles of charge in just 10 minutes. On the other hand, the charging capacity of the Q4 is between 150 and 175 kilowatts, making it just a tad slower.
LYRIQ vs. Q4 e-tron: Power and Performance
Since both luxury SUVs have two available electric powertrains, choosing the right one for your needs is a major decision. How do they compare, though?
With single-motor rear-wheel drive, the LYRIQ puts out an impressive 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. Go with the dual-motor all-wheel drive, and those numbers jump up to a shocking 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. Official zero-to-sixty stats are hard to come by, but in their review of the LYRIQ, Car and Driver noted a blistering time of just 4.6 seconds. The dual electric motor setup also allows for a max towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.
On the other hand, the single-motor Q4 40 e-tron only puts out 201 ponies, while the Q4 55 e-tron quattro maxes out at 335 horsepower. This allows it to do a respectable zero-to-sixty run in about 5 seconds flat, but it can’t quite keep up with the LYRIQ. The Q4 e-tron also caps at 2,650 pounds of towing capacity, putting it at a clear disadvantage when it comes to performance.

LYRIQ vs. Q4 e-tron: Dimensions and Comfort
They may technically be compact crossover SUVs, but they still ought to have enough space for you and a few of your friends or family members.
Here’s a breakdown of the Q4 e-tron’s and LYRIQ’s interior dimensions:
| 2024 LYRIQ | 2024 Q4 e-tron | |
| Head room (front/rear) | 38.6 in./37.7 in. | 38.5 in./38.3 in. |
| Shoulder room (front/rear) | 58.9 in./58.6 in. | 56.7 in./55.1 in. |
| Leg room (front/rear) | 41.4 in./39.6 in. | 41.2 in./37.2 in. |
| Cargo capacity (behind rear) | 28.0 cu. ft. | 24.8 cu. ft. |
| Cargo capacity (behind front) | 60.8 cu. ft. | 53.1 cu. ft. |
As we can see, the LYRIQ has more passenger and cargo space in pretty much every measurable way. Even if we count the Q4 e-tron Sportback—which reduces rear head room in favor of a bit more rear storage space—the LYRIQ still has more total cargo volume, making it the best electric SUV for families who need a little extra room.
LYRIQ vs. Q4 e-tron: Tech and Safety
Any great luxury vehicle often comes to be defined by their available amenities. In this respect, both are quite well-appointed.
The LYRIQ’s interior is dominated by a giant 33.0-inch advanced color LED display, which features standard Google built-in technology, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM, 5G Wi-Fi, wireless phone charging, and five USB ports as standard equipment. The Luxury and sport trims can also be optioned with a thumping AKG Studio 19-speaker sound system.
The Q4 e-tron’s own standard infotainment consists of a sizeable center stack featuring their MMI display, which is slanted helpfully toward the driver. This is complemented by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster to handle all of the diagnostic details. Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto are standard as well. Other additional goodies in the higher trims include an augmented reality head-up display and a premium Sonos sound system.
Both SUVs also have an extensive list of standard and available driver assistance features, but the LYRIQ also features available Super Cruise, which allows for hands-free driving on hundreds of thousands of road across America. Considering this, along with its more complete collection of onboard gizmos and gadgets, the electric Cadillac takes the edge once again.
